The Rise of Prohibition:
Prohibition was introduced to America in 1851 in Maine prominently by women being beaten by their drunken husbands, and the Prohibition Party.
The Prohibition Party was a group of well educated men who all had a common goal in mind, to end alcohol. Although the Prohibition Party did establish themselves as a presidential party, they were very unsuccessful.
From 1852 to 1917, 23 states began to have laws against alcohol. This was a big step to nationwide prohibition, though only thirteen states were completely dry.
A huge reason for prohibition was the fact that people believed that prohibition would cure poverty, child labor and crime.
Most of the organizations used propaganda to convince the people to join their side. Finally the power of the Prohibition Party influenced the government to make prohibition the 18th amendment.
